Property is beautiful and owners have taken care of everything to ensure a stress free stay. Pamela is a pleasure to work with and responds quickly to any question - you wont have many. I highly recommend this property.
It is tough to find a nicer place on the lake than Big Pine. Second year here and it only gets better. It truly feels like staying at home. So clean, serene, warm, beautiful and well-appointed that you don't want to leave. Comfortable beds in cozy bedrooms and contemporary/"up north" bathrooms and kitchen make for easy and relaxing living. Owners Pamela and Bruce have created something truly special and are fabulous to work with. Cannot say enough on how special this place is and how lucky my family is to be able to have spent another great week in this wonderful cabin.
The yard is lovely, the patios are great, the deck is nice, the dock is perfect, the water is warm and shallow, and the dock is perfect for a big boat and easy parking. The lake is great for fishing, boating, water sports, and bird watching.
Finally, the owner Pam is wonderful to work with. So organized, so thoughtful, so prompt, and so helpful in making sure that all of our questions were answered and needs met.

I cannot emphasize enough what an A+ experience we had from start to finish. It started with the high level of communication regarding our stay, with Pam keeping us informed of the deadlines and requirements, to checking in that we had received our VRBO welcome packet, to an email the day of our arrival asking if everything was to our satisfaction. When we opened the door, we were greeted with fresh flowers at every turn and a bottle of wine with a personal note from Pam and Bruce wishing us a wonderful stay
. This set the tone for our trip, and we couldn't possibly have had a better experience. This was our first trip to Wisconsin as a couple, and we loved the low-key vibe and friendliness of the people we met. We followed the recommendations in the Big Pine information book and tried ribs at the Black Bear and pizza at Mama's Supper Club. In short, staying at Big Pine didn't feel like any other cabin rental we've ever done. It felt like a friend threw me the key to their dream cabin and said "Here, stay a few days". There are personal touches everywhere - nature books to peruse, signed prints on the wall, fluffy towels for after my shower; bug spray provided as you head outside. Nothing left to chance. Rent this cabin! You won't be sorry.

We have been vacationing in the Northwoods for years and years. We've always looked for the perfect cabin on a lake and we finally found it this summer at Big Pine. The pictures and reviews were 100% accurate. This place really is as amazing as it looks. The cabin was gorgeous and the extra attention to detail in the decor, amenities, and landscaping made it even more special. Most importantly, it provided a perfect location for a relaxing getaway. The owners were very hospitable and made planning easy. We started thinking about a return trip the moment we left.

The owners have created a warm and beautiful cabin and property for a NorthWoods getaway. Communicating with Pam was a pleasure before and after the trip - really made booking and planning the trip very simple and painless. When we arrived, the cabin was beautiful and absolutely spotlessly clean on the inside. The property had a newly seeded lawn, brand new steps down to the lake, and a fantastic view of that lake and the island with the eagles' nest in plain view! We saw plenty of wildlife at the property - eagles, loons, possibly a muskrat, and plenty o' fish! The fishing, right off the dock with awesome attached chairs, was fabulous. The swimming was great there too Any groceries and supplies we needed were a brief 10 minute ride away into downtown Minocqua. There was plenty of nearby shopping, restaurants, and attractions appealing to the young and old in our family. I would highly recommend this lovely cabin/home to anyone looking for a peaceful, private spot right on a beautiful lake. I thank the owners for sharing their bit of peace with my family!

Cabin: A super quiet retreat that is wonderfully appointed. It is beautifully decorated and updated just enough while holding on to that northwoods charm.. You can tell the the amount of time and energy the owners have spent on Big Pine because it is wonderfully updated and stocked with everything you need. The bathrooms, kitchens and common areas where wonderfully clean. A brand new washer/dryer came in handy as did the screen porch for those nights where the mosquitos were especially hungry. Big Pine felt like home the minute we pulled up. A sand bottom shoreline made it easy to walk out into the water or wade. A really great place for kids to experience the northwoods. Lake:
The water this time of year was wonderfully warm and pleasant. Lake Shish is a large lake with lots of bays and wonderful sandbars that we were able to enjoy. Lots of boating and tubing yet it is still very quiet. Good bass and pan fishing. Owners: Great communication and follow up before we got up there and they checked in right away after our trip to make sure our experience was great. I would say that they were attentive to our needs but we didn’t need anything! Overall, just a wonderful experience and we hope to be back soon!
